Highway authorities

A far ranging autumn view over rolling hills and valleys in our area

A small part of the vast area we cover

There are 35 local councils acting as highway authorities in the area we cover. Highway authorities are responsible for managing public rights of way (PROW). Most councils publish interactive maps which allow you to explore their area and to identify any PROW.

All the highway authorities that we cover are listed below, with links to their own website, PROW map and Local Access Forum.

Highway authorities sometimes change the location of their websites, so please email us  here if a link doesn't appear to work as expected.

Additionally, Barry Cornelius at rowmaps.com  has obtained digital mapping data showing PROWs from many councils. He's converted that data into KML files that you can freely download for use in Google Earth.
