John Harker (PNFS Trustee, Area Officer, and Courts & Inquiries Officer) discovered an obstructing fence during the summer, as shown in the first photo below. The footpath is located at grid reference SK02638935 [map] where FP 28 branches off FP 27 and heads through the gate to reach Lanehead Farm north of Little Hayfield. He reported it to Derbyshire County Council (DCC). The council officer concerned went out and spoke to the landowner who agreed to replace the obstructing fence with a wicket gate supplied by DCC. The second photo shows the result. John comments:

"This is just one example of the day to day work undertaken by the society's network of footpath inspectors, Area Officers and Courts & Inquiries Officers. If we had more volunteers the society could achieve even more such successes."
