David Morton, PNFS Signposts Officer, reports as follows:
Signpost 151, near East Park Lodge, Lyme Park, Stockport, Cheshire [map] was repainted yesterday in fine weather. I used a new type of fast-drying, green acrylic paint from HMG, which enabled me to paint the white letters without delay.
Signpost 151 repainted
Signpost 151 had inadvertently become Signpost 1511 after someone added an extra 1. Prior to that, it had been a duplicated copy of Signpost 158, due to some historic blunder. You can see a green 8 behind the white 1.
Signpost 1511 !
The real Signpost 158 was renewed six years after Signpost 151, and stands a few miles away at Charles Head, next to the Kettleshulme to Rainow road [map], so how the earlier 151 came to be numbered 158 is a mystery.
