S661 was erected on 4th July at Chapel-en-le-Frith railway station by John Hodgson, Vic Shannon and our Signpost Officer David Morton. It was donated by Chris and Kath Sizeland to commemorate the 800th anniversary of the town.

The Friends of the station were very helpful in our gaining consent from Network Rail and Northern Trains. It is our first signpost on railway property.

The station is very well kept, with posters of surrounding views, a view-point indicator and a blue plaque in memory of Driver John Axon GC and Guard John Creamer, who died in the crash there on 9th February 1957. Sadly, it lacks public WCs, but it is surrounded by attractive and interesting walks.

We are very keen to erect more signposts. If you have ideas for suitable locations, take look at the list of “Signpost Considerations” and then email our Signpost Officer, David Morton at signposts@pnfs.org.uk
