Signpost 247 stands at a major crossroads on the flank of Kinder Scout, where the Pennine Way crosses the Hayfield to Snake footpath at the the top of William Clough [map]. This remote spot experiences extreme weather, and the sign was definitely showing the strain (see photo below).
PNFS members Bill & Margaret Buckley volunteered to repaint it and you can see the results below. It's now a real credit to the society and will no doubt draw the attention of the many walkers that pass this spot every day of the year.
