New footbridge at Shaw, Oldham

Published on 2010-04-05 19:10:10

Recently we have seen the construction of a new bridge over the River Beal at Shaw, Oldham. A contribution from the Society and the perseverance of our local inspector, Martin Riley, ensured that a new steel bridge was constructed to replace a timber structure which had been the subject of vandalism in the past. The footpath is close to Shaw station and planned improvements to the footpath include modifying the existing steps and, we hope, replacement of a substandard subway by an at-grade crossing of the new Metrolink line.
