Government Consultation

Published on 2022-03-07 17:45:17

The government is asking the public whether 4x4s and motor bikes should continue to be allowed to drive ‘off-road’, ie on unsealed (no tarmac) tracks in the countryside. This is an opportunity for local residents, walkers and horse riders everywhere to have their say about the motor vehicle damage, sometimes danger, which makes many countryside tracks difficult or dangerous to use. The consultation questions about off-roading are part of the government’s response to a review of protected landscapes. The online questionnaire is at: Government response to the Landscapes Review - Defra - Citizen Space The questionnaire asks about a lot of different things to do with the countryside. If someone wants to answer just the questions about off-roading on unsealed tracks, they can click through to questions 14 to 17 about unsealed routes/unclassified roads. The consultation closes on 9 April. Please take part.
