Signpost 500 was unveiled to commemorate 121 years since 1894 of the PNFS defending public rights of way, 500 signposts, 35 footbridges and 10 fingerposts. The event was attended by John Biggins and Bruce Fairbanks for Manchester and Peak District Ramblers, John Lambert for Friends of the Peak District, Tony Favell for Edale Parish Council and, for the PNFS, John Harker, Jack Burling, Paul Easthope, Dave Brown, Keith Wykes, Jean Hibbert, Peter Ash, Mike Hoare, John Hodgson, Terry Norris and David Morton.
